Carrara marble has furnished the world's greatest architecture for two thousand years. The cool white base, the quiet grey veining, the sense of classical permanence. No surface aesthetic has stood the test of time as consistently. In Sydney kitchens in 2026, Carrara is as relevant as it has ever been, and the sintered stone version delivers everything the look is known for without any of the maintenance that genuine marble demands in a working home.

Why Carrara Remains the Classic Choice
Calacatta has dominated Sydney kitchen design for the past several years with its bold, high-contrast drama. Carrara is something quieter. The cool grey-white base, the fine and restrained movement of the veining, the softness of the overall surface character. Carrara kitchens read as refined and considered rather than statement-making.
In Paddington terrace kitchens where the architecture is already doing the work. In Mosman and Double Bay homes where the brief is understated European luxury. In Neutral Bay and Cremorne renovations where the palette is white on white on natural stone. In all of these contexts, Carrara reads correctly in a way that a more dramatic surface might not.
Honed vs Polished Carrara: Which Finish
The Carrara White in our Heritage Marble Series is available in a velvet finish, which sits between fully honed and polished. It has a beautiful softness, visible depth in the veining, and resists fingerprints and water marks far better than a high-polish surface. Vagli White is available polished for clients who want maximum reflectivity and depth.
Bring your cabinetry reference to the showroom and we will show you both finishes against your specific joinery. The right choice becomes clear when you see it at scale.
Carrara as a Continuous Surface
One of the strongest outcomes available in a Carrara kitchen is a continuous surface from benchtop to full-height splashback, cut from the same slab so the veining runs consistently without interruption. Our Carrara White Mirror Image takes this further, book-matching two slabs to create a symmetrical veining pattern that turns the splashback into an architectural feature.
We fabricate both the benchtop and the splashback in our own workshop from the same slab batch. There is no colour variation between surfaces and no visual inconsistency in the veining distribution. One material, one workshop, one result.

Every slab in our collection is displayed at 1600 x 3200mm at our Alexandria showroom. Samples tell you the colour. The full slab tells you everything else.

What is the difference between Carrara and Calacatta?
Carrara has a cooler, greyer-white base with fine, restrained grey veining. Calacatta has a brighter white base with bolder, more dramatic veining in gold or dark grey. Carrara is the quieter, more classic surface. Calacatta is the statement surface. See our full Calacatta guide for a detailed comparison.
Will Carrara sintered stone stain or etch?
No. Unlike genuine Carrara marble, the sintered stone version does not etch from acid contact and does not stain. The surface is non-porous. Lemon juice, wine, and vinegar wipe away cleanly without leaving any mark.
Is Vagli White the same as Carrara White?
They are both white marble aesthetics, but distinct surfaces with different characters. Vagli White has a slightly warmer, more luminous quality and is available in a polished finish that brings out its depth. Carrara White has the cooler, more classic Carrara character. Both are displayed at full slab size at our showroom.
Can I use Carrara in a wet area like a shower?
Yes. Carrara sintered stone is non-porous and fully suitable for shower walls, niches, and bathroom vanity tops. It is far more practical in wet areas than genuine marble, which requires frequent sealing and can stain in high-moisture environments.
